Why Off Airport Parking at Newark Airport Saves Time, Money and Stress

As Featured On EzineArticles
By Steve Mooar -- Airport Parking is one of the last things a traveler thinks about when planning a business or leisure trip, if they even think of it at all. Most travelers assume that parking on the airport is the easiest, safest, and cheapest way to go, but this is a big mistake, particularly at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR).
Newark Liberty has three levels of parking on the grounds. There is short term parking located across the access road from each of the terminals. The short term lots are an easy walk to the terminal as long as you do not have much luggage, but they cost $33 per day. Travelers can save as much as $9 a day by selecting one of the Daily Parking Garages and pay between $24 and $27 per day depending on the garage. The AirTrain light rail connects these garages to the terminals, but you have to walk to one of the stations, which can be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage. The least expensive on-airport option is the Economy Lots, but they still are relatively expensive at $18 a day and the buses that connect the Economy Lots to the terminals are slow and overcrowded.
Because of the high rates and inconvenience of parking at Newark Liberty, off-airport long term parking is very popular. There are over 10 Off-Airport Newark Liberty Parking options with rates as low as $7.75 per day, which works out to as much as a 76% savings over on-airport parking. The off-airport parking lots tend to be more convenient than their on-airport counterparts. The Off-Airport Newark Liberty Parking Lots are located near the major thoroughfares like I-78 and the New Jersey Turnpike, so the traveler does not even have to spend the time navigating around the airport. They also help you with your luggage and drop you off at the terminal, so if you use the skycap you are probably only walking a total of 50 feet with your luggage.
For added convenience, most off-airport operators have online reservation forms and even offer valet options for added convenience. Making an online reservation for parking, guaranteeing your parking spot, is a good idea, particularly if you are traveling during a holiday or other periods of busy travel. If you have every driven around Newark Airport trying to find a parking spot the week of Thanksgiving, you know what I am talking about.
The bottom line is that off-airport Newark Airport Parking saves the traveler money, time and most important a less stressful start to a vacation or business trip. Give it a try.

ParkSleepFly.com Offers Pre- or Post-Flight Alternatives to Tight Travel Schedules and Cramped Flights

Fewer Flights Mean More Customers Vying for Fewer Seats

SUFFIELD, CT, Dec 08, 2011 (Press Release) -- With the recent announcement of American Airlines filing for bankruptcy, along with higher fuel prices, travelers may find fewer flights and smaller, more crowded planes. Fewer flights may tighten up further holiday travelers' schedule options for the most convenient time for flying.

With these limited flight schedule choices, many travelers won't have the options, as in previous years, in choosing their most convenient departure times. Also, many airlines are switching to smaller, more economical planes for regional travel to decrease overhead, shrinking schedule availability further.

Airlines have reduced choices to early morning departures with late night returns, which can be a big hassle, but now there is an excellent alternative to an early morning airport drive that avoids any unpredictable traffic or fatigue after the late night return flights.

Jack Lambert, CEO of ParkSleepFly.com, offers a great solution for traveling on these pre-dawn flights: Arrive at the airport the night before and stay in a comfortable hotel close to the airport that provides parking for the duration of the trip. These hotels also provide shuttle service to and from the terminal. ParkSleepFly.com has hundreds of these hotels listed to choose from in over 129 airports locations.

Lambert says, "Our site offers easy online reservations for many of your favorite hotel brands located near the airport. The package rates may be equal to or less than parking alone at the airport. Parking from 3 to 14 days or longer is included in the rate. Travelers can stay the night before and arrive at the airport refreshed from a good night's sleep complete with the peace of mind that their car is safe. If a stay on the return is preferred, travelers can get some rest before that long drive home, where previously they may have driven fatigued and unsafe."

While travel is not getting any easier, with tight airline schedules and space cutbacks, travelers don't have to forfeit their rest for early morning departures or late night returns. By simply reserving a hotel parking package through ParkSleepFly.com, that early morning flight, or late night return, will no longer be a hassle.

For information, visit www.ParkSleepFly.com or call 1-800-PARKING.

About ParkSleepFly.com, Inc. ParkSleepFly.com, a trendsetter and industry leader in hotel, parking, and airline reservations, offers travelers deals on overnight stays at over 1,500 hotels located just minutes from more than 129 airports in the U.S., Canada, and Europe -- along with free parking for 7-14 days or more plus complimentary shuttle service to and from the terminal.

Reservations may be made at www.ParkSleepFly.com or toll-free at 1-800-PARKING (727-5464).

Guide to Atlanta Airport During the Holiday Rush

November 20, 2011 - Atlanta Journal Constitution - By Kelly Yamanouchi -- It’s time for the holiday rush with some changes in security measures, as well. Travelers should be prepared for the possibility of imaging machines, pat-downs and delays. Here are a few things fliers need to know as they navigate the Atlanta Airport:

Be early
- Delta Air Lines is advising travelers to get to the airport three hours in advance of international flights and up to two hours in advance of domestic flights. Check with your airline for more specific suggestions.

- For Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport information, go to atlanta-airport.com or call 1-800-897-1910.

Security lines
- Hartsfield-Jackson’s main security checkpoint is on one end of the main terminal and has 22 lanes for passengers flying out. A maze line leads to the checkpoint. The line usually moves slowly but steadily. The airport has four lanes at a Terminal South checkpoint and six lanes at a Terminal North checkpoint. Signs will direct travelers to three types of lanes they can choose from: Black Diamond for expert, elite or frequent business travelers; Blue Square for more casual travelers with carry-on baggage and a basic understanding of security requirements; and Green Circle for those with special needs or those traveling with young children in strollers.

- The TSA this year also launched a new “trusted traveler” program at Hartsfield-Jackson and a few other airports, allowing some travelers such as the most frequent fliers on Delta to opt into the “PreCheck” program for a chance at expedited screening. The PreCheck lane is one of the lanes at the South security checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson.

- You must have a boarding pass and photo ID to go through security and on to the gate concourses.

Offsite Parking Cuts Tampa Airport's Cash

Tampa Airport estimates competitors rake in nearly $3 mil. annually.

November 22, 2011 - St. Petersburg Times - By STEVE HUETTEL -- Gail Wohl cruises right past Tampa Airport to find parking when she flies out of town.

Rather than use the airport's $9-per-day remote economy garage, the South Pasadena travel agent pulls into A-1 Express Airport Parking on the southern fringe of TIA. She drops off her car outside the office. A driver loads her luggage onto a free shuttle to the airport terminal 2 miles away.

And Wohl's $30 parking bill for four days is $6 cheaper than the airport's fee would be.

"It's a convenience, the price is good and you don't have to go look for your car when you get back," she said. "It's just so easy."

Most off-airport parking businesses compete strictly on price, shaving a few bucks off TIA's daily rate. That can add up to a tidy savings for travelers on extended trips.

Some offsite operators also offer services customers can't get at the airport: advance reservations for busy travel periods, oil changes and discount deals. A-1 Express customers can collect frequent-parking points, good for car washes and free parking.

The vast majority of travelers who drive to TIA still park in airport-owned garages. But more and more, offsite parking operators are nibbling away at the airport's share of the business, said Ed Cooley, TIA's vice president of operations.  Continue reading Tampa Airport Parking article.

Thanksgiving Kicks Off the Busiest Travel Season of the Year

FlightView Presents Top-10 Tips for Holiday Travel

BOSTON, Nov 15, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Attention holiday travelers: the most hectic travel season of the year is quickly approaching. The 2011 holiday travel forecast is predicting 20.9 million domestic flyers this Thanksgiving season. While that number represents a two percent drop in the total number of seats filled from 2010, don't be fooled -- the heightened security, weather delays, crowded terminals, overbooked flights and expensive baggage fees are here to stay.

"The holidays are always a stressful time, and travel is a big contributor to the madness," said Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView, the leader in day-of-travel information. "But with just a little extra preparation, travelers can enjoy a more productive and calmer experience for themselves and their families."

Here's a look at FlightView's top 10 travel tips for the 2011 holiday season:

1. Plan for airport congestion -- Heightened security and higher volume will undoubtedly slow travelers down. Holiday travelers should plan a 30-45 minute additional buffer when deciding when to leave for the airport.

2. Travel light -- Overhead compartments and under seat storage will be at a minimal this year and airline personnel are expected to be less lenient about overstuffed and additional carry-on bags.

3. Monitor flight changes -- The easiest way to reduce stress and save time is to stay informed by proactively monitoring the departure and arrival times for all flights, including connections. Travelers are advised to check on the status of flights, via flight-tracking sites like FlightView.com, prior to leaving for the airport.

4. Leverage smart phones -- Instead of fighting crowds and lugging bags around the airport to get a glance at the airport display boards, travelers should tap mobile phones to stay up-to-date on flight information. Many fight-tracking apps can keep users up-to-date on any changes with push alerts.

5. Bookmark the airport's mobile website -- For travelers that don't want to download an app, the airport's mobile website is the next fastest and easiest way to get flight information while on the go. If the airport does not have a mobile site, bookmark FlightView's mobile tracker.

6. Plan for parking -- It's essential to plan ahead for airport parking. One parking detour may be enough to make a traveler miss a flight. Flyers can leverage FlightView's free airport parking tool to see available lots and current rates.

7. Dress for security success --Travelers can save valuable time by preparing for security before leaving for the airport. Travelers should have only the essentials in their pockets -- wallet, keys, cell phone and ticket. 8. Check-In early -- Avoid the lines at the airport. Many airlines allow flight check-in up to 24 hours in advance.

10. Don't forget the pick-up person -- Travelers should update the pick-up person on the status of their flight to help them avoid countless airport circling and congestion.

Backed by more than 30 years of flight-tracking experience, FlightView offers travelers several free tools to help with holiday travel. FlightView's mobile website and mobile apps -- available on the Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Palm - offer travelers a simple way to track flights and stay informed while on the go. Another useful tool for holiday travelers is FlightView's airport information page, which offers travelers real-time updates on airport delays, flight changes, limousine services, and parking facilities. Some of Michigan's Hotels on Upswing Including Around Detroit Airport

November 2, 2011 - Detroit Free Press - by John Gallagher -- With Michigan's economy slowly recovering, hotels in many parts of the state report an upswing in occupancy, a leading hotel analyst reported this week.

Charles Skelton, president of Ann Arbor-based Hospitality Advisors, said in his mid-year report that three submarkets in particular were reporting higher occupancies -- downtown Detroit, Ann Arbor and the Romulus/Metro Airport area.

"With most of the downsizing in the auto industry behind us, many of the auto-centric submarkets in metro Detroit have been relatively stable since 2009," Skelton wrote. "Not surprisingly, in many of the other Detroit submarkets, new and renovated properties have enjoyed strong or increased numbers."  Read More.

Holiday Inn Express at LaGuardia Airport to Join the Growing Energy Efficiency Movement

The Holiday Inn Express at LaGuardia Airport took a step toward becoming "carbon neutral" by teaming up with Green Energy Solutions, an energy consulting company, and will reduce their energy costs by 18.2%, or $13,493, per year.

Flushing, NY (PRWEB) -- The Holiday Inn Express at LaGuardia Airport took a step forward in its goal of going “carbon neutral” by becoming one of the first hotels in the Holiday Inn chain to install an energy management system. The hotel was advised by energy consulting firm Green Energy Solutions, a Con Edison market partner, to install in-room monitoring systems and HVAC controls that they project will save them 18.2% in energy costs, or $13,493 each year.

“The decision to invest in this system was made easy by the great rebates we got from Con Edison,” said Amit Ghandi, president of M&R Hotel Management Group, the entity that owns the hotel. Almost 50% of the project cost was subsidized by rebates from Con Edison, who offer project subsidies and other incentives to buildings who have approved the installation of energy management systems to lower energy demand.

Miami Airport (MIA) Simplifies Rates for Long and Short Term Parking

All Parking Spaces Are Capped at $17 per Day Effective October 1

Sept 30, 2011 - Miami-Dade County, FL - PRESS RELEASE -- New rates going into effect at Miami International Airport at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 will simplify the cost of parking at MIA to $17 per day, or $2 for every 20 minute increment up to two hours and 40 minutes. The new rate slashes the previous charge of $30 for spaces in the short-term lot immediately outside the airport's Central Terminal while increasing by $2 the maximum daily rate in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages near North and South Terminal. This is the first rate increase at MIA in approximately five years.

“MIA has recently made a number of improvements to expedite the flow of traffic and improve customer service, including the implementation of SunPass Plus and valet parking for both North and South Terminal. With the opening of new terminal facilities for international arrival passengers, all 8,059 of our parking spaces are now considered premium parking spaces depending on your airline,” said Miguel Southwell, Miami-Dade Aviation Department Deputy Director for Business Retention and Development. “The rates have therefore been simplified to reflect this change.”

MIA continues to offer valet parking in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages for $18 within three hours or $30 per day for three hours or more. Economy Park and Ride parking is also available for $3 each hour for the first two hours or a daily rate of $8. Go to Miami Airport Press Release.

Atlanta Airport's ‘New Front Door' to Open in Spring

Sept 27, 2011 - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - By Kelly Yamanouchi -- The Atlanta airport’s new $1.4 billion international terminal, which will change the way some travelers use the sprawling complex, is entering the final stretch of construction after a long and bumpy journey.

Now set to open next spring -- six years after the initial target date -- the terminal will create “a new front door to the airport,” said Atlanta Airport general manager Louis Miller, by offering an access point on the east side, off I-75.

The terminal is mainly designed for passengers using the adjacent international gate concourses. One of its most-touted features: it will bring an end to the cumbersome baggage process now required of Atlanta-bound international travelers. If flying with checked luggage, they must recheck it after clearing customs, then pick it up again after taking the airport train to the distant main terminal.

At the same time, one task for airport officials is making sure local travelers and regular visitors, long used to coming and going from one terminal for all flights, don’t end up in the wrong place. Read More

DFW Airport Begins Terminal E Expansion Project

Sept 21, 2011 - Airlines and Destinations -- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW Airport) is beginning construction to add 54,000 square feet of “landside” interior terminal space in Terminal E, creating more room for ticketing, baggage claim, security and passenger services in areas before passengers pass through security checkpoints.

The work will expand the terminal building between gates E17 and E31, and is part of the DFW Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP). The initial phase of TRIP for Terminal E also includes the reactivation of its ‘satellite’ terminal, which houses seven aircraft gates.

TRIP is a seven-year, $1.9 billion renovation plan to renew all four of DFW’s original terminals, which first opened when the airport itself opened in 1974. Under TRIP, DFW will replace aging infrastructure systems, update concessions and redesign terminal space to improve the passenger experience substantially.  Read More

Aloft's First Hotel Conversion Project is Near San Francisco Airport

Aloft turns to conversions to meet global demand from partners, developers, consumers

Sept 19, 2011 - Travel Daily News -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced the first conversion of an existing hotel to its “style-at-a-steal” Aloft brand, launching a new phase of growth for one of the world’s most talked-about hotel brands.

Aloft San Francisco Airport, a former Clarion property, will undergo a significant renovation before opening as an Aloft in the summer of 2012. The 253-room hotel is owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and this significant investment demonstrates Starwood’s strong commitment to the three-year-old Aloft brand.

“Building on the success of adaptive reuse projects like the award-winning Aloft Dallas Downtown, a former railroad depot, we’ve developed a conversion-friendly strategy for existing hotels to meet owner and guest demand for the brand while helping our partners reposition existing assets in a cost-effective manner,” Simon Turner, President of Global Development for Starwood. “We believe that many well-located, older hotels in metro markets represent enormous untapped repositioning potential. With the right capital investment and the backing of Starwood’s powerful platforms, these assets will benefit from Aloft’s ever-growing guest loyalty.” Read more

The Sky's the Limit for Buffalo Airport

Expanded service, cheaper flights spur rise in Buffalo Airport's importance to the local economy

Sept 19, 2011 - Buffalo News - by Matt Glynn -- The Buffalo Niagara International Airport is on track to serve more than 5 million total passengers this year -- for the sixth consecutive year.

Those big numbers have become practically routine for the airport, making it easy to forget how different the picture was for fliers in the 1990s, when the Buffalo airport had dingy, outdated facilities and was known for high fares.

All of that began to change when the airport's flashy new terminal debuted in late 1997, and began turning the airport into a regional asset. It has become a draw for businesses that send employees out and welcome clients here; a tool for residents who can live here and work elsewhere, and an economic engine for the surrounding community, fueling hotel construction and employment.  Read More

Volunteers to Give New Sacramento Airport Terminal a Dry Run

Sept 13, 2011 - The Sacramento Bee - By Tony Bizjak -- When the doors slide open on Sacramento International Airport's $1 billion expansion next month, it will be critical from the first moment that passengers find their way to their planes without confusion or consternation.

That's why, airport officials said, they've invited 120 volunteers next week for a dry run – to see how they navigate the new facilities, from the parking lots to the ticket stations to the boarding gates.

If there's a problem, officials said, they need to know now rather than on Oct. 6, when real passengers will need to get to real flights.

"You're basically turning off the lights one night (at old Terminal B), and opening at 5 a.m. the next morning at the new terminal," said the airport's Robert Spitler. "You can't be wrong."  Read More

New Parking Lot Shuttle Buses Coming to Orlando International

September 7, 2011 - Orlando Sentinel -- Orlando International Airport has purchased six new shuttle buses that should make many of the trips from the airport’s Blue Lot long-term parking area to the terminal less congested.

The new buses, costing $130,000 apiece, are about the same size as the 11-year-old buses they’ll be replacing, but the seating is configured along the walls, rather than in rows, allowing for wider, more comfortable seats and more leg room. The luggage racks also will be slightly larger.

The buses, manufactured by Arboch of Joplin, Mo., also are equipped with TV screens that will rotate various airport-related customer service messages. Read More

Airport Parking Problems at DFW Lead to Off-Site Parking Increase

Suffield, CT (OPENPRESS) July 14, 2011 -- This is reflected in a recent customer satisfaction survey, which found that parking satisfaction at Dallas Airport had decreased from 8.46 to 5.77 out of 10. It has been reported that sixty percent of passengers said it is hard to find a space in Terminal A. Normally, around 55% of passengers are either dropped off at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport or park at off-site facilities. Since the terminal construction project has started to affect parking for Terminal A and, subsequently, for Terminal C, this figure has risen to around 65% of passengers seeking alternative parking solutions.

For those customers looking for parking suitable for Dallas Airport, there are currently more than 10 off-site parking lots serving the airport. As well as the ability to reserve your space before you go so you know without doubt that you will be able to park your car, the off-site lots also offer a free shuttle bus service to the airport so you will be able to get to your final destination. DFW off airport parking starts at as little as $5 per day and there are a range of different options available to meet passengers’ needs.

As Vast Miami International Airport Upgrade Wraps Up, More in Wings

July 7, 2011 - Miami Today - By Zachary Fagenson -- Think the massive, multi-billion-dollar North Terminal at Miami International Airport is the last big project we'll see there for years? Think again.

Miami-Dade's aviation department is about halfway through three-year planning to lay out what it feels it needs to do, including construction, to keep up with cargo demands and passenger traffic after 2015.

The process kicked off in April 2009 with passenger surveys, airport traffic forecasts and cargo and airline maintenance provider surveys.

Most recently, officials met May 5 with stakeholders to analyze a stack of possible scenarios the airport might deal with through 2035. The group whittled that list to four for air travel and a fifth for cargo projections. Read More.

20 Years Fly By for Southwest at Sacramento Airport

June 15, 2011 - The Sacramento Bee - By Rick Daysog -- Call it the airport expansion paid for by Southwest Airlines.  The new, $1.1 billion terminal nearing completion at Sacramento International Airport owes much of its funding to the Dallas-based carrier, which on Tuesday celebrated the 20th anniversary of its launch in the Sacramento market.

When Southwest arrived, the Sacramento airport consisted of one cramped and aging terminal. A new terminal – occupied mainly by Southwest – was added in 1998. An even larger terminal and parking lot will be finished this fall.

"If you didn't have a dominant and profitable carrier (like Southwest) in the Sacramento market, this expansion might never have happened," said Kevin Freiberg, co-author of the 1996 book "NUTS!: Southwest Airlines' Crazy Recipe for Business and Personal Success."  Read more at SacBee.com

San Diego based Hotel Managers Group LLC (HMG) recently announced that it has been awarded a long term management agreement to manage the Hampton Inn & Suites San Francisco-Burlingame-Airport South at 1755 Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA. The hotel is a 77 unit Hampton owned by Saturn Investment Group, LLC. The hotel was opened in June 2003, and owner managed until ownership determined that a professional management company such as HMG was more adept at operating in a competitive economic environment while ownership concentrated on asset issues and expansion of its hotel holdings.

The President of Saturn Investment Group, LLC, stated that “HMG was a perfect fit for his hotel needs as HMG is a highly reputable management company with a successful record of operating Hilton brand products including many Hampton products. Our location near San Francisco Airport and within a high density area of corporate business accounts demanded that our sales and marketing efforts be professionally designed and implemented. HMG brings this expertise to our hotel. Since HMG assumed management on April 1, 2011, we have already experienced a favorable increase in occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).”

Alan Bowles, Senior Vice President of HMG stated “We are very pleased to add Saturn Investment Group, LLC’s hotel to our portfolio of managed properties. We work very well for owners who prefer to work on asset management and expansion of their portfolio’s rather than day to day issues of routine hotel operations. We know how to maximize revenue and profit for hotels, while working closely with owners who understand real estate but lack the experience of hotel management details”.

Customer Service Fuels Off-Airport Parking at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

March 28, 2011 - AZCentral.com - by Georgann Yara -- In 2007, Sky Harbor Airport Parking General Manager Jason Pasley made a business decision that caused him to lose dollars but ultimately allowed the site to remain the only off-airport parking facility standing with owners from metro Phoenix.

The 2,104-space lot his father Al opened in 2002 had been consistently about 90 percent occupied through 2006. When the economy started to take a dive and income and investments dwindled, Pasley noticed a decrease in travel that resulted in a decline in his customer base.

While other lots around him lessened their shuttle runs to and from the airport, Pasley took the opposite approach and increased his frequency, regardless of the number of passengers in his vans or the rising cost of fuel. Read More

How would Dulles's rail compare to European airports?

Mar 21, 2011 - Greater Greater Washington - by David Alpert - The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority board is still trying to decide whether to spend more money to build an underground Silver Line station close to the Dulles terminal, or to instead choose an elevated station near the parking garage. How will this ultimately compare to other major airport rail connections?

The elevated station would be 600 feet farther from the terminal. Passengers would have to descend to the underground tunnel, where a moving walkway connects the parking garage to the main terminal.

Local officials in Northern Virginia have been pushing the elevated option to save $240-320 million, but Metro Board members worry that the cheaper option would bring in lower revenue in perpetuity. Read More.

PDX Offers Spring Break Break Including Discount Parking

PORTLAND, ORE. (March 15, 2011) – Portland International Airport is giving Spring Break travelers an additional break this year with parking discounts in the long-term parking garage.

With the Spring Break Break, parking is $14 per day for those entering the garage between March 17 and April 3—a $2 discount per day. The change will introduce many travelers to the garage that opened last year, and help fully utilize parking spaces in the garage that are more available during Spring Break when there is less business travel. The garage is conveniently connected to the terminal building via tunnels and moving sidewalks.

Motorists are also encouraged to use the short-term parking garage ($3 per hour) to avoid congestion on the terminal roadways when picking up guests. Parking along Northeast Airport Way is prohibited, except for emergencies, and parking curbside at the airport terminal is only allowed for immediate loading and unloading. Motorists can also park in the free cell phone waiting area, wait for a call announcing an arrival, and then quickly pull up to the terminal to pick up travelers. Signs on Airport Way and 82nd Avenue approaching the airport will guide motorists to the lot located on Air Cargo Road, just west of 82nd Avenue.

Car Charging Group, Inc. and King Airport Parking Install Jacksonville, Fla.'s First Electric Vehicle Car Charging Station Near Jacksonville International Airport

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., March 9, 2011 (PRESS RELEASE) -- Car Charging Group, Inc. (OTCBB:CCGID) and King Airport Parking, LLC have completed the installation of the first electric vehicle charging station in the Jacksonville, Fla. region, at King Airport Parking's Jacksonville International Airport location at 1771 Airport Road. Travelers wishing to charge their electric vehicles now have access to Level II, 240 volt ChargePoint® Networked Charging Stations, manufactured by Coulomb Technologies.

"The ultimate success of electric vehicles will rely upon making the charging process easy and convenient for consumers," said Michael D. Farkas, CEO of Car Charging Group. "The King Airport Installation is part of Car Charging Group's aggressive national rollout of charging stations designed to serve drivers of the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt, among the many others models slated to hit the roads soon."

Car Charging provides EV charging stations at no charge to property owners/managers while retaining ownership, thus allowing drivers access to convenient locations and landowner partners to realize a percentage of the charging revenue generated. The 7.2 kW output delivers Level II (208/240 V @ 30 A) charging via the standard SAE J1772™ connector and fixed 18-foot cable. The 2 kW output delivers Level I (120 V @ 16 A) charging via a standard NEMA 5-20 receptacle protected behind a locking door. Both outputs can deliver energy simultaneously.

"This charging station is part of the developing smart grid, which uses the latest in communications and technology to offer travelers using Jacksonville Airport an integrated and remotely operable option to ensure their cars are charged upon their return," said Alex Sivar of King Airport Parking. "Our networked parking space is certain to become a popular spot for travelers utilizing Jacksonville International Airport because they will have the ability to start and stop a charging session directly from an iPhone or Blackberry smart phone or iPod Touch to ensure their vehicle is ready to go when they are."

To check the real-time availability of the charger at King Airport Parking, consumers can visit: http://www.mychargepoint.net/find-stations.php or download the ChargePoint® app on your iPhone or iPod Touch at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chargepoint/id356866743?mt=8#
